BEIRUT, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) -- At least 11 people were killed and five others wounded in Israeli airstrikes on the town of Kfar Roummane in southern Lebanon early Monday, according to Lebanon's National News Agency (NNA).

NNA reported that an Israeli airstrike destroyed a three-story residential building in Kfar Roummane. Rescue teams from local health organizations rushed to the scene and recovered the bodies of nine people, including two infants, while five others were wounded.

Another two medics from the Islamic Risala Scouts were killed by an Israeli drone strike in the town, NNA reported.

The developments came amid continued tensions along the Lebanese-Israeli border despite a framework agreement signed by Lebanon and Israel in late June and several rounds of talks on security arrangements along the border. ■
