CANBERRA, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- Australia's trade minister said on Thursday that he will negotiate with U.S. counterparts to have tariffs on Australian goods removed.

Don Farrell, minister for trade and tourism, told Australia's Nine Network television that he has been informed by U.S. authorities that the tariff on Australian goods will remain at 10 percent despite an announcement from President Trump that a temporary duty of 15 percent would be imposed on all imports.

Farrell, who is in the United States on an official visit promoting tourism, trade and investment, said that his objective in the weeks ahead is to negotiate for the removal of all tariffs on Australian goods.

"It doesn't make any sense and simply pushes up prices in the United States," he said.
