JOHANNESBURG, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) -- Two people were killed and three others wounded in a shooting outside the Booysens Magistrate's Court in Johannesburg on Tuesday morning, local police said.
Police spokesperson Brenda Muridili said two victims were declared dead on the scene, while three others were taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds. Three gunmen approached the victims outside the court and opened fire before fleeing a vehicle, she added.
The incident occurred at about 10:30 a.m. local time (0830 GMT) at the court's main entrance, said Muridili, adding that "the motive of the shooting is unknown at this stage and investigations are underway."
Local media reported that one of the wounded is a lawyer who had been representing an accused person in a murder and attempted murder case dating back to last year. ■
