MEXICO CITY, Dec. 25 (Xinhua) -- Ten people were killed and 32 others injured after a bus plunged into a ravine in the municipality of Zontecomatlan in the eastern Mexican state of Veracruz, local authorities said Thursday.
Nine adults and one minor were killed in the accident, the Zontecomatlan municipal government said in a statement posted on its official Facebook page. Authorities are continuing to verify the identities of those who lost their lives.
The accident occurred Wednesday when the bus operated by Conexion veered off the way when it was traveling on a difficult stretch of a road in northern Veracruz, according to survivors and emergency responders.
The injured have been sent to hospitals for medical treatment, the Secretariat of Civil Protection of the state said on Facebook. ■
