KUALA LUMPUR, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- An 11-year-old boy was reported to have died in Malacca state after being swept away into a flood retention pond during the ongoing floods in Malaysia, authorities said on Friday.
The boy was found by emergency workers about 600 meters from his last known location, the Fire and Rescue Department told local media.
Meanwhile, the number of people displaced nationwide stands at 26,928, with victims being housed in 273 flood relief centers as of 1 p.m. local time, according to the country's social welfare department, with Kelantan state being the most severely affected.
The meteorological department has issued warnings of continuous adverse weather including the tropical storm Senyar which is moving inland from the Strait of Malacca. ■
