YANGON, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar authorities have seized 55 kg of heroin and 5.8 million stimulant tablets in Mandalay region of central Myanmar, the state-owned daily The Mirror reported on Friday.
Acting on a tip-off, anti-narcotics police searched a vehicle in Mandalay's Patheingyi township on Nov. 6 and confiscated the drugs along with one suspect.
Following the investigation, three additional suspects were arrested between Nov. 7 and 16 in three separate townships across Mandalay, it said, adding that one more suspect, who arranged the transportation of the drugs, remains at large.
The seized drugs had a street value of over 8.9 billion kyats (about 4.23 million U.S. dollars), it said.
The suspects have been charged under the country's law, and further investigation is ongoing, the report said. ■
