The Global Civilizations Dialogue Ministerial Meeting was held in Beijing on July 10–11. In an exclusive interview following the subforum themed Inter-Civilization Exchanges and Mutual Learning: Cultural Inheritance and Innovation, Roger T. Ames, Humanities Chair Professor at Peking University, underscored the importance of humanistic exchange in tackling today's global challenges.

"The old way of international relations has really proven to be inadequate to address the pressing issues of the human being," he said, calling for renewed attention to civilizational dialogue grounded in shared values, culture, family, and history.
