Shared path toward modernization: Former Speaker of Mauritius’s National Assembly discusses China’s key contributions to global development and regional progress

Adrien Charles Duval, Former Speaker of the National Assembly of Mauritius, emphasized China's remarkable transformation from a nation facing numerous challenges to becoming the world's second-largest economy and a leader in innovation. He noted that China's success is a result of years of effort, particularly under the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC). Duval highlighted the Museum of the CPC as an insightful resource that reveals the struggles and achievements that have shaped China's rise to global prominence. He also pointed out that China's technological and industrial advancements are setting the pace for global modernization.

Duval expressed deep appreciation for China's ongoing support to Mauritius. He stressed that China's assistance has been key in helping Mauritius surpass pre-pandemic economic growth levels. Beyond the pandemic, Duval acknowledged the long-standing, strong bilateral relationship between Mauritius and China, with numerous treaties and collaboration on large infrastructure projects contributing to the country's development.

In addition to Mauritius, Duval praised China's influence in the broader African and Indian Ocean regions, noting its significant role in economic development, infrastructure, and aid.
