MOSCOW, Aug. 30 (Xinhua) -- Russia's largest oil company, Rosneft, reported a 5.1 percent decrease in liquid hydrocarbon production in the first half of 2024, according to a press release issued on Thursday.
The decline was attributed to restrictions imposed by the Russian government on oil production. The company produced 92.8 million tons of oil, or 3.796 million barrels per day, down from 4 million barrels a year ago.
As Russia's largest taxpayer, Rosneft paid 2.8 trillion rubles (30.4 billion dollars) in taxes in the first half of this year. Over the past three years, the tax burden on the oil sector has reached 75 percent, significantly higher than that of other sectors such as banking, mining, and metallurgy.
