BEIJING, June 21 (Xinhua) -- Chinese lawmakers will deliberate the latest draft of a preschool education law at the 10th session of the Standing Committee of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC), the country's top legislature, scheduled for June 25 to 28.
Huang Haihua, spokesperson for the Legislative Affairs Commission of the NPC Standing Committee, said at a Friday press conference that according to the draft law, China would encourage non-government participants to contribute to the development of preschool education.
The draft law states that there must be non-profit kindergartens in new residential areas, and highlights the importance of ensuring access to preschool education for rural children whose parents have migrated to cities for work, according to Huang.
It also states that kindergartens should take immediate protective measures in cases of child abuse and other emergency situations, Huang said.
During the session, legislators will also deliberate a draft law on emergency response work, a draft amendment to the country's accounting law, and draft revisions to the public security administration punishments law and the cultural relics protection law.
