Kekexili, meaning “beautiful girl” in Tibetan, Has been widely known as the “last pure land of mankind”. At the mention of Kekexili, people will always remember another name: Sonam Dargye. Leaving Ge’ermu and driving up to Kunlun Mountain Pass, you’ll spot the statue of Sonam Dargye standing tall by the road, staring into the distance. This is where the hero guarded with his life. Whenever patrolling Kekexili, Putso Tsering will always come here to visit his uncle, Sonam Dargye, who died fighting poachers in order to protect Tibetan antelopes. His father Drapa Dorje was also killed by bullets for the protection of Kekexili. In order to carry on their unfinished cause, Putso Tsering chose to take over the mission left by Sonam Dargye to keep guarding Kekexili.
