On May 24, the second Standing Committee Meeting of the 14th National People’s Congress deliberated the State Council’s 2022 Report on Environment. According to the report, China’s national soil environmental risks were basically under control, the trend of deteriorating soil conditions had been curbed.

124 source control projects against soil pollution were rolled out, 132 key counties investigated and remedied causes of heavy metal pollution for arable land, a total of 1,744 plots of construction land were added to the risk control and remediation list for soil pollution.
