China's COVID response in numbers: Crucial measures at crucial times

-- At present, over 90% of the Chinese population has been fully vaccinated against Covid, and a total of 3.48 billion doses of Covid vaccine have been administered nationwide.

-- From the “Twenty Measures” to the “10 New Measures”, and to now when Covid is downgraded and dealt with as a “Category B” disease, the Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism of the State Council has recently held more than 10 press conferences, briefing the public with reliable information, and answering all the questions from the media.

-- As of Dec. 20, 2022, the National Medical Products Administration has conditionally approved five new Covid-19 vaccines, another eight vaccines put on emergency use upon deliberation of competent authorities. In addition, 11 therapeutic drugs and 128 testing reagents of various types have been approved.

-- Entering December of 2022, the production of two key antipyretic and analgesic drugs, ibuprofen and acetaminophen, has jumped significantly, with a daily capacity of 202 million tablets; the daily production capacity of antigen reagents has expanded to 110 million; and more than 190 million N95 masks are rolled off the production line each day.
