China in a Decade: New concept spurs greater development, and a new era unleashes stronger dynamic (part II)

From 2013 to 2020, the number of rural residents in poverty reduced by 98.99 million, and in the same period, the per capita disposable income of rural residents in poor areas increased by 9.2% annually, 2.2 percentage points faster than that of rural residents nationwide. From 2013 to 2021, the number of employed nationwide remained stable at over 740 million, with the number of newly employed in urban areas remaining at over 11 million per year. In 2021, China’s per capita disposable income hit RMB 35,128, an increase of RMB 18,618 over 2012, up 6.6% annually, and 0.5 percentage points faster than the average annual growth of GDP per capita in the same period.    As of end 2021, the number of people covered by basic pension insurance and medical insurance nationwide had reached 1.03 billion and 1.36 billion respectively; in 2021, the construction of 940,000 apartments for low-income groups had kick-off.
