Now it is a natural grassland resort covering an area of 2,324 square kilometers. The resort consists of Saihanba National Forest Park, Yudaokou Grassland and Forest Scenic Zone and Hongsongwa National Nature Reserve.
Thirty-nine percent of this area is covered with wetland, water, reeds, and virgin forests. The Nature Reserve is the natural habitat for 293 kinds of precious birds, including six breeds of cranes.
