SINGAPORE, Oct. 26 (Xinhua) -- Singapore's Energy Market Authority (EMA) and Malaysia's Energy Commission renewed their memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Monday to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the energy sector.
The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the 19th Singapore International Energy Week, extending a partnership established in October 2020, the two sides said in a statement.
The renewed MoU provides a framework for technical cooperation, regulatory exchanges and knowledge sharing in electricity and piped gas system planning and reliability, wholesale and retail electricity market regulation, cross-border electricity trading, Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) and interconnection capacity.
It also expands collaboration on solar energy and energy storage systems.
EMA Chief Executive Puah Kok Keong said the agreement would support cross-border electricity trade, regional interconnectivity and RECs, facilitating renewable electricity trade and investment in renewable energy projects. ■
