Chinese Academy of Sciences sets priorities for sci-tech breakthroughs in its five-year plan

　　BEIJING, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) has released its development plan for the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-2030), setting priority directions for sci-tech breakthroughs in three major fields: basic research, strategic high technologies and sustainable development.

　　The plan defines the strategic priorities guiding the academy's sci-tech work in the coming years and pledges to step up AI-enabled scientific research.

　　It also calls for stronger foundational sci-tech capabilities and better coordination of the regional layout of sci-tech research.

　　Aiming to build a world-class research institution, the plan outlines reform and development tasks in areas including integrated development of education, science and technology and talent, construction of a national science and technology think tank, reform and management innovation of research organizations, transfer and application of sci-tech achievements, and international sci-tech exchanges and cooperation. ■
