TOKYO, Dec. 26 (Xinhua) -- Eight people were taken to hospital after a stabbing incident at a factory in Japan's Shizuoka Prefecture on Friday, local media reported.
At around 4:30 p.m. local time, a company official at the Yokohama Rubber Mishima Plant in Mishima City, Shizuoka Prefecture, reported that five or six people had been stabbed with a bladed weapon and that a liquid had been scattered at the site, public broadcaster NHK reported, citing local police and fire authorities.
According to the fire department, eight people were transported to hospital and the extent of their injuries remains unclear.
Police said the suspected attacker has been taken into custody and an investigation is underway to determine the details of the incident. ■
