HANOI, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- Two coastal provinces in Vietnam's south-central region, Khanh Hoa and Lam Dong, have issued a ban on fishing vessels going offshore as part of preparations for Typhoon Koto, Vietnam News Agency reported Friday.
The order prohibits all vessels and boats, including tourist boats, cargo ships, fishing vessels and other watercraft, from operating at sea.
It took effect at 7 a.m. on Friday, said the report.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, Typhoon Koto is expected to directly impact mainland areas from Da Nang city to Lam Dong province and poses high risks of coastal dyke erosion in the central region, local daily Kinh Te &Do Thi reported. ■
