Business leaders urge GMS nations to deepen economic ties amid global shifts

　　BANGKOK, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- Private sector leaders from across the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) have called for stronger strategic cooperation and innovation to navigate global economic volatility and climate challenges during the GMS Business Forum 2025.

　　Organized by Thailand's Joint Standing Committee on Commerce, Industry and Banking, the forum convened over 300 delegates on Thursday, including government officials, business leaders, and representatives from international organizations, in parallel with the ongoing 27th GMS Ministerial Conference.

　　Under the theme, "Greater Mekong Subregion Business Opportunities and Challenges Under the Changing Economic Landscape," the discussion focused on modernizing the region's economic approach to maintain competitiveness in global value chains.

　　Outcomes from the forum, such as a pipeline of investment-ready projects and policy recommendations on cross-border trade and sustainable development, are set to be presented at a closed-door ministerial and business leaders' meeting.

　　These proposals aim to shape the GMS policy direction for the coming year and influence the 2028-2030 GMS Work Plan.

　　The GMS countries comprise Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. ■
