On March 19, the Seminar on the Cultural Roots of Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy and the Book Launch of "China's Approach to People-to-People Connectivity" were held in Beijing.
Hosted by the Academy of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era of Renmin University of China, the event brought together a dozen experts and scholars from renowned institutions to delve into the theories and viewpoints outlined in "China's Approach to People-to-People Connectivity".
The book is another significant work on China's public diplomacy in the new era, following the book "Beyond Public Diplomacy: Chinese Wisdom on People-to-People Exchange"."China's Approach to People-to-People Connectivity" combines theory with practice, analyzes people-to-people bonds in depth from political system, religion, history, culture and nationality, etc., presenting a broad vision with rich connotations. The book sorts out the exchanges between China and the United States, Germany, India, ASEAN, Africa and Latin America through case studies, and proposes constructive approaches to deepen public diplomacy in the digital age, post-COVID era and under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative.
Author Wang Yiwei elaborated on the importance of people-to-people connectivity, emphasizing the sublimation the book underscores from understanding people to understanding humanity. The book itself, creatively drawing on classroom teaching of political science, explores the inter-relationship between teaching and learning. Professor Wang hopes the book will spark the global practice of people-to-people exchanges, particularly in the Global South, as it will push the North to rethink public diplomacy.

Experts and scholars in attendance discussed the theories and viewpoints outlined in the book. Participants applauded the book for its systematic presentation of China’s people-to-people exchange strategies and experiences. This valuable resource offers theoretical grounding and practical guidance to promote mutual understanding and cooperation in the international community. In an increasingly globalized world, such research serves not only as a guide for cultural exchange, but also shows a path towards building a community with a shared future for mankind.
