As we usher in the auspicious Year of the Dragon, the fifth episode of “Chinese Dragon in Folk Art” will take you on a mesmerizing journey into the realm of Han Embroidery. Check out this video to witness the enchanting fusion of fantastical Han Embroidery with the "boundless vitality" of the dragon.
In preparation for the arrival of the Year of the Dragon, Wang Ziyi, a provincial-level inheritor of Hubei Han Embroidery, is diligently crafting a piece titled "Azure Dragon Bestows Blessings." With a red fabric as the backdrop, symbolizing a vibrant and prosperous new year, Wang Ziyi explains that, according to traditional culture, the dragon is associated with wood and the color green. Hence, this embroidered masterpiece intricately combines gold thread with shades of green and turquoise threads, portraying a dynamic yet dignified image of the azure dragon. The artwork is laden with auspicious meanings, representing good fortune and prosperity.
