In an exclusive interview with Guangming Online, Martin Chungong, the Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), commended China's significant progress in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) over the past decade. Chungong emphasized China's success in lifting 800 million people out of poverty and its transition towards renewable sources in industrial production, showcasing the nation's commitment to sustainable development.
Chungong specifically highlighted China's dedication not only to domestic sustainable development but also to sharing its prosperity and experiences with countries worldwide. Using China's assistance in infrastructure development in various African nations as examples, he praised the positive impact of the Belt and Road Initiative on global sustainable development. Chungong stated, “The Belt and Road Initiative is consistent with the spirit of solidarity that should prevail in multilateralism.” He encouraged more countries to embrace this initiative for the betterment of global well-being.
