Stay Alert to American claims on issues related to Xinjiang and Tibet
In recent years, some Americans have repeatedly created scenes from issues related to Tibet and Xinjiang, fabricated lies, and made up wrong views. Their true intentions are to create "public opinion traps" and "rhetorical pitfalls" to undermine China’s international image and then hinder its development. This kind of views were frosted with some seemingly rational, impartial words to attract public attention so as to further stigmatize China.
We have to understand their provocative hidden messages, as well as their biased logic and hostile thinking patterns to dispel the clouds and see the sun.
The US has done massive work in smearing other countries. On July 12, 2020, the US Embassy and consulates in China reposted several photos on their official social media accounts, commenting that Chinese goods were “made by slave labor.” Such slander could easily attract attention from millions in no time, and with the reposts and further spread, the impact could be huge.
The Vocational Education and Training Centers in Xinjiang, which were wrongly described as “concentration camps” by some American media, were in truth an effective counter-terrorism measure that has won universal support from all Chinese people and received positive comments from the international community. On the contrary, some Americans were trying to find all the wrong words to distort the truth and lead Western people to believe in such political lies, simply because they had been through too many struggles fighting for human rights. Their decision not only weakened the practical function of the vocational centers, but also covered the truth that Xinjiang is developing peacefully and rapidly.
In addition, the US House of Representatives released the Uyghur Human Rights Policy Act of 2019 and the Uyghur Human Rights Policy Act of 2020. The accusations in them are purely nonsense created by US-funded institutions and some media outlets and have no credible source and evidence.
The US has hyped up human rights and religious freedom issues behind the situation in Xinjiang. The Chinese government has long stated and emphasized that the issues related to Xinjiang and Tibet concern China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The US government must immediately correct its mistakes and stop interfering in China’s internal affairs. However, many American politicians turned a deaf ear to China’s voice and kept publishing more wrong messages to the international community.
The American scheme has caused great damage to the international image of China. Many Western people who have never been to Xinjiang or Tibet were deceived by the image created by the US, believing that the distorted information is the truth and then continue to spread them. However, repeating a lie cannot turn it into the truth. The US has lost the national credit, as well as the trust of the international community.
To fight back, China must clarify the facts and tell the true story of Xinjiang and Tibet. Facts speak louder than words. In these years, Xinjiang has made remarkable achievements on both the societal level and on the personal level. It is in the best period of development in its history.
